The Grade 8 class recently returned from a successful ski trip to the charming resort of Monte Bondone, Trento. Accompanied by teachers Cai Clemens and Maartje Koster, the students spent four days embracing winter sports, building community, and challenging themselves both on and off the mountain.

Monte Bondone proved to be the perfect location for our small student group. With about 20km of well-maintained piste and the hotel conveniently located just 50 meters from the slopes, access was seamless. The weather kept things interesting, offering everything from misty, foggy clouds to fresh snow, and finally, sunshine on perfectly prepared slopes.

The core purpose of the trip was to give every student the opportunity to experience winter sports and face a new challenge. We ensured everyone was catered to by hiring three dedicated ski instructors for the class, splitting students into three skill groups. This small group setting allowed for plenty of individual feedback, resulting in every student making huge technical improvements compared to the start of the trip.

Beyond the technical skills, a major goal was fostering a stronger community and encouraging respectful interaction. By requiring phones to be left away during meals and communal time, students connected in meaningful ways. The evenings were filled with energy and fun—we danced together in the hotel, sang karaoke, and held exciting tournaments of ping pong and kicker/fussball. The effort paid off; students reported that the class group had never felt so close. It was a wonderful week of challenge, growth, and unforgettable memories!
