Music at ISB extends beyond technical competence. It encourages confidence, teamwork, and creative problem-solving, while offering students a meaningful avenue to express themselves. Our curriculum is designed to inspire young learners, nurture emerging talent, and support the development of open-minded, culturally aware global citizens.
At the International School of Bologna (ISB), music education plays a central role in fostering creativity, collaboration, and personal expression. From Grade 1 through Grade 10, and under the guidance of our dedicated music teacher, Miss Maija Mäkelä, students engage in a comprehensive and enriching musical journey.
Throughout the programme, students explore music in multiple forms. They learn to sing and compose original pieces, play a variety of instruments—including piano, guitar, and drums—and collaborate in small ensembles and bands. These experiences culminate in our annual music concert, an important event that showcases students’ growth, skill, and commitment.
