The Performing Arts programme culminates in two major school productions each year. The Winter Show, performed by Primary School students just before the Christmas holidays, celebrates creativity, collaboration and joy on stage. The Summer Show, performed by Secondary School students, showcases more advanced performance skills and creative depth. Together, these productions reflect ISB’s commitment to nurturing artistic expression, cultural awareness and a love of performing arts across the school community.
The Performing Arts programme at the International School of Bologna places theatre at the centre of creative expression and collaboration. Theatre is a dynamic, live art form that encourages students to explore the human condition—how we communicate, interact and tell stories. Through imaginative inquiry, students learn to express ideas, emotions and perspectives in meaningful and engaging ways.
At ISB, theatre learning is rooted in practical exploration, experimentation and creative risk-taking. Students develop confidence, creativity and teamwork by working together as an ensemble, transforming ideas into performance. They are encouraged to think carefully about what they wish to communicate and how best to share their vision with an audience, developing a strong sense of responsibility as young theatre-makers.
