Mathematics/Sciences Teacher (MYP/DP) — International School of Bologna Grades 6–12 | Bologna, Italy

Role Overview

The International School of Bologna (ISB) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Mathematics and/or Sciences Teacher to join our Secondary School faculty. The successful candidate will deliver an inquiry-based, concept-driven curriculum aligned with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) frameworks, fostering academic excellence and holistic development in a diverse, inclusive, and internationally minded community.

Teaching & Learning

The teacher will design and deliver rigorous, differentiated lessons in Mathematics and/or Sciences that challenge students across ability levels while nurturing intellectual curiosity. They will develop and continuously refine the subject curriculum in line with IB requirements, employing a range of formative and summative assessment strategies consistent with MYP and DP guidelines. The teacher will actively promote the IB Learner Profile within every lesson and support cross-curricular connections wherever possible. DP teachers may also be required to supervise Extended Essays in relevant subject areas.

Classroom & Community

Beyond the classroom, the teacher will maintain regular communication with parents, contribute to student reporting, and participate in school-wide strategic planning and accreditation processes (IBO, CIS, NEASC). They will support IB core projects including the Personal Project, Service Learning, and CAS, and actively engage in the broader school community through assemblies, staff meetings, and extracurricular initiatives.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a recognised teaching qualification appropriate to Mathematics and/or Sciences, with a minimum of two years of IB teaching experience. Native or near-native English fluency is required. Experience with inquiry-based and concept-driven pedagogical approaches is essential, as is a collaborative disposition and genuine commitment to international education and student well-being.

Salary

€26,000–€28,000 gross per annum.
