International School of Bologna


Library Overview

The International School of Bologna (ISB) Library has some 8,000 titles in its database and uses the LibraryWorld OPAC v.3.1 (Online Public Access Catalogue). Students may come to the library at lunch time and during their break times for research and study. Students may search the OPAC from school or search for books from home, using the online catalogue.

To access the database from a computer, go to and enter: IS Bologna in the Library Name.

LibraryWorld also lets students and staff  search the library database from anywhere and anytime with access to a mobile device. The LibraryWorld Search app is available from Apple’s App Store and Android Play Store for free!

Library Circulation

Students are allowed to borrow books during their library time and free time in the library. Students are allowed to borrow books as follows:

Early Years (Kinder, Transition) One book per week
Elementary School (Years 1-5) Three books per week
Middle School Five books per week

The Patrons

The International School of Bologna Library serves some 200 students and 40 teachers and support staff. The Library has resources to support the units of inquiry in the PYP and unit planners in the MYP. Early Years (EY) and Elementary School (ES) classes come in weekly for book exchange and library information literacy skills. MYP classes schedule lessons on information literacy as needed and in collaboration with the librarian.

The Collection

The library has a collection of DVDs and CDs for teacher use only. ISB library has a number of mother tongue books (French, Dutch, and Spanish) catalogued using the Dewey Decimal System.
