Pre-school
Pre-school accepts children of 2 to 3 years of age.
The Pre-school curriculum is a play based curriculum which allows for children to develop at their own individual pace and follow their own learning interests. All areas of learning and development are connected and young children learn through developmentally appropriate activities.
The curriculum places a major emphasis on helping children to develop secure and trusting relationships with the new adults that care for them and with their new friends. As a result of this children develop emotional resilience and a strong sense of self. Children are helped to develop confidence and self-assurance and to become independent learners with healthy self esteem.
Children are supported in the following areas:
• Use of the school environment – making increasingly independent choices of play areas and resources
• Interacting with others – developing close and trusting relationships and making a contribution to a group
• To develop the skills to become effective communicators
