The application process

Once you are satisfied that ISB is the school for your child, you will be asked to complete an application form and supply the school with information. For Elementary school applications, parents must provide full school reports for the last two years and ISB may also contact previous schools for references. If the student is not a mother-tongue speaker of English and has not attended English-medium schools in the past then we will probably arrange a test in English. For older students, we may also arrange tests in Mathematics or other subjects. The admissions questionnaire and performance in the tests will both remain in child’s confidential file and will not be released to any external agency without parental permission in writing.

How the school will assess your application

ISB sets out to provide an education that is appropriate for most children from the international community and for Italian families who are attracted by our international ideals. However, we are conscious that the school cannot cater for everyone. ISB reserves the right to judge whether it is capable of providing a suitable academic environment for the student in terms of the school’s objectives.

Do Parents Need To Speak English?

Although we do not expect all of our families to be entirely fluent in English, it helps if parents feel competent in the language. All communication with school is in English - letters, bulletins, reports, meetings and conversations with teachers. We therefore hope that at least one parent in each family can speak English.
